Mary Castillo is the founder and creative director of Mer’s Designs, a company that creates fun, colorful tops with true Caribbean style. Mary started the company in 2017 with just one sweatshirt that featured the map of Belize. Now, her clothing includes tops, tanks, tees and more. Her tees feature bright tropical colors, kente cloth patterns and other callbacks to Mary’s Belizean heritage.
Mary was born and raised in Hopkins, a quaint Garifuna community in Southern Belize. This background is evident in Mary’s designs, which feature the bright colors of traditional Garifuna clothing along with the sunny blues and whites that symbolize Belize. Mer’s Designs are light and airy clothes that are perfect to wear on the Belizean beaches.
After graduating from high school, Mary attended university in the U.S., where she obtained a bachelor of fine arts undergraduate degree and a master’s in public policy administration. Mary never forgot the bright colors and sunny side of life in Belize. Now, she’s delighted to share that joy with the world. Mary’s tees are available in sizes and styles that will fit the whole family.
