Barefoot Services is a Belizean, family-owned tour operator and destination management company based on the Placencia Peninsula in Southern Belize. Since 2004, we have helped visitors experience Belize through guided tours, private ground transfers, personalized vacation planning, travel support and locally guided experiences across the country.
Our story began when founders Ian and Megs Yearwood were in their early twenties, at a time when much of the Placencia Peninsula was still connected by unpaved roads. What began by helping travelers with reliable transportation grew alongside Placencia and Belize’s tourism industry into the full-service travel company we are today.
More than 20 years later, our purpose remains deeply personal: to help travelers experience Belize with knowledgeable local guidance, reliable service and a genuine connection to the people, cultures and natural environments that make our country special.
We are proudly Belizean, family-owned and woman-led. Supporting a locally owned company such as ours also helps tourism revenue remain within Belize. We intentionally work with local guides, families, communities and tourism partners while creating opportunities that strengthen the places we call home.
