Starting December 1, 2024, Belize is embracing modern travel convenience with the launch of a new digital immigration and customs declaration system. Spearheaded by the Department of Border Management and Immigration Services and the Customs and Excise Department, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy, Logistics, and E-Governance, this innovation aims to streamline the travel process for all visitors entering and exiting Belize.
The system provides a user-friendly online platform that enables travelers to complete their immigration and customs forms ahead of their arrival or departure. By offering this option, Belize is taking a significant step toward enhancing data accuracy and simplifying the travel experience.
Initially, the system will be rolled out at Philip Goldson International Airport for a three-month test phase. During this period, travelers can choose between digital and printed forms while the system undergoes fine-tuning. Feedback from travelers will be instrumental in improving the platform for its eventual expansion to all ports of entry.
The new digital system represents a broader commitment by Belize’s government to modernize its infrastructure and ensure seamless travel for visitors. As the peak tourism season approaches, this move is expected to reduce—and eventually eliminate—the reliance on paper forms, allowing for faster and more efficient immigration and customs processing.
