We are proud to share that Barefoot Services has been honored with one of the most important recognitions in Belize’s tourism industry. At the Belize Tourism Board’s 2025 National Tourism Awards Gala, our team proudly accepted the prestigious Tour Operator of the Year title. This award represents the highest level of acknowledgment given to a tour operator in Belize and we are humbled to be recognized among so many outstanding industry leaders.
The judges highlighted the qualities that drive our work every day: exceptional guest service, strong operational standards, and our unwavering commitment to safety. They celebrated the way our tours showcase the diverse beauty of Belize, from its rich cultural heritage to its incredible natural landscapes. These are the values that guide every experience we design and every traveler we welcome. See video here.
A Milestone for Our Placencia Based Team

This national recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects the passion and dedication that have shaped Barefoot Services from the very beginning. Founded by Ian and Megs Yearwood, our company has grown steadily over the years through hard work, innovation, and a belief in providing dependable service that guests can trust.
We have built a reputation for meticulous planning, warm and genuine hospitality, and a guest centered approach that ensures every traveler feels cared for. To have this work celebrated at the highest national level is an honor for our entire team and for the Placencia community we proudly represent.
A Year of Double Honors for Barefoot Services

Our Tour Operator of the Year award follows closely behind another incredible achievement. Barefoot Services was recently recognized as Belize’s only recipient of the 2025 Global Tourism Excellence Awards, one of the world’s most respected honors in tourism. Unlike many industry awards, the GTE Awards are based entirely on verified guest reviews, not applications or sponsorships. They reflect the true voice of the traveler and measure guest satisfaction with real transparency.
To earn both a national BTB award and an international GTE Award in the same year is a remarkable milestone. It reinforces the trust our guests place in us and highlights the consistency, authenticity, and passion that define our work.
A Commitment to Community and Conservation

Our success as a company goes beyond tourism services. In 2025 we partnered with the Crocodile Research Coalition to launch Placencia’s first ever Battle of the Paddles kayak race. This fun and spirited event raised awareness about the conservation of the Placencia Lagoon and brought together both visitors and residents for a day of connection and environmental advocacy.
Co founder Megs Yearwood was also honored by the Belize Tourism Board this year through its She Leads, We Celebrate campaign, which recognizes women making meaningful contributions to Belizean tourism. Her leadership continues to shape Barefoot Services into a company that values integrity, innovation, and community spirit.
Continuing to Elevate Belize Tourism

With both national and international awards earned within the same year, Barefoot Services is proud to play a part in elevating Belize’s tourism profile on the world stage. These recognitions reflect the heart of our company: a belief that passion, professionalism, and authenticity create unforgettable travel experiences.
We extend our gratitude to our guests for trusting us, to our team for their dedication, and to our community for their continued support.
