• Getting to Placencia

The Placencia Peninsula is located in southeastern Belize right on the coast. Depending on where you are coming from, there are several options for how to get to Placencia. Travel time can range from 35 minutes to five hours depending on your mode of travel.

Placencia is a popular visitor destination thanks to its position on the Caribbean near the Belize Barrier Reef. Although it is possible to arrive in Placencia by boat, most people travel by land or air. If you’re coming in from Belize City, the route is 160 miles.

    Domestic Flights

All international flights land at the Philip Goldson airport in Belize City, but you can fly to Placencia on either of Belize’s two domestic air carriers (Tropic Air and Maya Island Air) from Belize City or any other airstrip in the country. From Belize City, there are at least five daily flights that begin in the early morning and continue through the early evening. All flights are on a 9-13 Cessna aircraft and the travel time is about 35 minutes.

    Placencia Shuttle

Barefoot Rentals and Services operates a shuttle service from both the international airport in Belize City as well as locations in the city itself. Barefoot operates a fleet of modern, well-maintained vehicles with professional, licensed drivers.

    Private Car/Van Transfers

Barefoot Rentals and Services can arrange for private vehicle transfers to Placencia from anywhere in Belize, including  San Ignacio, Corozal, Dangriga, and Belize City. Barefoot also has a fleet of modern vehicles for rent as well as shared shuttle services.

Taxis in Belize are not restricted to one city, and can take you from anywhere in the country to Placencia. Be aware that you’ll have to negotiate the price with the driver.

    Car Rentals

If you want to get to Placencia on your own, consider renting an SUV from Barefoot Rentals. Barefoot has a simple, no-hassle policy to make renting the right vehicle simple and easy. Barefoot is also able to deliver or receive the vehicle in any reasonable location in Belize including the Belize International Airport, Belize City, San Ignacio or Dangriga.

The most economical option is to take a bus from Belize City to Placencia. There are two buses that run this route daily, the last leaving at 12:00 PM, so be aware of the schedule if you’re flying in on the same day that you want to travel to Placencia. The journey takes about 3 hours.

To get the best rates on SUVs, and other forms of transportation, consider Barefoot Rentals and Services. Barefoot has a simple no-hassle policy to ensure that all vehicle rentals go smoothly.
